HIGHER STANDARS
Today, more than ever, there are concerns over the way that manufacturing companies operate, and over the safety of their products with respect to their impact on the Earth and on human beings. Interior Designers and Engineers, as well as owners and builders are being faced with new challenges: balancing luxury and sustainability, durability and Green design, making LEED ratings accessible and cost effective.
We at NFI strive to offer solutions to these challenges and are continuing to improve our ability to provide the conscientious products that guests demand. We invite you to see the difference in our product quality and consistency, and to purchase from us with confidence. See our supplier's individual certifications below.

QUALITY
What is ISO9001:2008 certification? ISO refers to the INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR STANDARDIZATION, which was established to develop global standards of quality and excellence for product and service organizations. It is a comprehensive quality management system, and peace of mind for our customers. ISO9001:2008 refers to a specific level of quality management requirements. Our main facility has recently earned ISO9001:2008 certification, which controls and documents every step of our process, and assures proper handling of materials, as well as protecting the health and safety of our most valuable resources, our people. Along with extensive training and management that is required for ISO9001:2008 certification, we modernized our plant in 2008, installing a state-of-the-art polyurethane finish line, clean rooms, ventilation and filtration systems, and energy efficient conveyor lines. <<LEARN MORE ABOUT ISO9000>>

SUSTAINABILITY
All of our pure timber is either farm raised from sustainable plantations local to our manufacturing facilities, or is certified to comply with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Chain-of-Custody Standards (COC). Our concern for long-term, responsible use of natural recourses applies to all of our materials, even our natural, woven fibers.

EMISSIONS
What is CARB Certification? The CALIFORNIA AIR RESOURCES BOARD (CARB) has become the furniture industry air quality standard as it applies to composite wood materials that contain harmful ingredients such as formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is considered a Toxic Air Contaminant (TAC) or Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) and is used as the bonding agent in composite wood materials. Holding certification for CARB Phase 1 and 2 means that our plant has taken the necessary steps to exceed emissions standards for the protection of your guests and our factory craftsmen.
The icons to the left represent the following certifications:
HWPW-VC (3ply to 25ply Hardwood Plywood with veneer core)—
CARB Certified Phase 1 and Phase 2.
MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard)—CARB Certified Phase 1 and 2.
tMDF (Thin Medium Density Fiberboard)—CARB Certified Phase 1 and 2.
PB (Particle board)—CARB Certified Phase 1 and Phase 2.
PU-EN71 (Polyurethane Finish)—Tested for over 40 hazardous materials, including TOLUENE, and complies with the requirements of European Standard on Safety of Toys EN71 Part 3:1994+A1:2000+AC:2002. Our Polyurethane finish also complies with the requirements of GB18581:2001 for the indoor decorating and refurbishing materials limit of harmful substance of solvent coatings for wood ware. Our Polyurethane does not contain formaldehyde, commonly found in the furniture industry's catalyzed lacquers and conversion varnishes. <<FORMALDEHYDE FACTS [PDF] >>

FIRE SAFETY
What is CAL TB117 Certification? This refers to CALIFORNIA TECHNICAL BULLETIN 117 requirements for flammability as it applies to upholstered furniture. All of our Resilient Cellular Materials (Foam) used in our case goods and seating meet the requirements for CAL TB117 Certification.
CAL TB133 flammability requirements apply to the entire furniture piece and depend on flame retardant textiles, which our customers can specify.

DURABILITY
Durability means a long life cycle for our case goods and seating and longevity of design. Our case construction and state-of-the-art polyurethane finish will meet the difficult demands of the commercial environment, where furniture is exposed to harsh chemicals and constant use.
